So I took nanna’s portrait, and the 3d printed pieces, down to Arts Space today, it was time for her to get all set up in the temporary photography studio so that Sally Rogers (Creative Grid photography mentee) could document them all for the Alternative Archive catalogue.
Check out this snippet of my 3D printed lithophanes:
Don’t they look great? I really would like to look into creating some kind of interactive setup for them, so that gallery visitors can see them in both their natural and illuminated states. I’m thrilled with how they’re turning out so far – especially the frames which I designed and printed from woodfill.
Each lithophane has been developed from a photograph from our family archives. They required a lot of tinkering to get them prepped to turn into 3D models. I’ll post an update detailing the process at a later time… most probably while I’m sitting the gallery during my solo show in May!
